Open Art Therapy Space

The Open Art Therapy space is an online space to practice expression, connection and communication via art practice of all kinds.

Our process is largely self-reflective and open; we follow a traditional art therapy space structure BUT all processes are optional. Those wanting to engage in their own projects, use the space for parallel play or proxy socialisation are welcome.

Our art making times are typically silent and people are welcome to listen to their own music. move around their space and self-monitor time.

Our session structure and process is not set in stone. It will be flexible depending on the suggestions of the space.

Where people would like more structure or to do a targeted kind of art response for a specific situation, structured activities and guidance will be offered.

Sessions are contained. The space hopes to introduce and open up a discourse for people to take more individual and personalised work into their private therapy spaces around topics.

As a social justice act to reduce the power/control mechanism found in ‘therapy’ spaces and to practice Peer ways of working, Mahlie may make art visibly alongside the space and engage in all processes equally.
